I vegetarijanskih i ne-vegetarijanskih, i fancy mesta i prčvarnica.
Uz to obavezno ide hleb.
English version
Good thing about Dubai is possibility of eating food from all cuisines you can imagine. It does not mean apriori that every restaurant is good, I have problem for a long time finding good restaurant with Italian pasta. But pleasant surprise for me was Indian vegetarian food. There are a lot of Indians in Dubai for many reasons. India is close, long time back they have tight connections with Middle East, so they make biggest expat group in Dubai. So there are a lot of Indian restaurants all around. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, both fancy and holes. So these days I am in action of discovering Indian cuisine. Before Dubai, I had 3 chances to taste Indian food. First time it was in Cyprus, in some takeaway restaurant near my apartment. I entered, randomly chosen few things and eat them. It was too hot and sweet for my taste. Next time it was in Hyatt in Belgrade, on Indian food evening. It was OK, but that evening I tried bunch of different things and I do not remember what it was. Third time it was in Nis, when Indian restaurant was opened. Cook, Indian, recommended to us few things, we had lunch and food was not bad at all, but again I do not remember what I ate. So, few days ago Nenad and me were in Indian vegetarian restaurant just across the street from my apartment, but I never went there. Since a friend of ours, Indian, were with us she ordered few things and explained what we are eating. Two of us were impressed with food, and we were surprised that meal without meat can be good meal. Actually I liked food a lot. I have not yet become an expert, but if someone is willing to try, this is my recommendation for two dishes. Food is very tasty, not too much spicy so it won’t be a problem.
Daal and Black Dall – I do not exactly know what is it
Palak paneer – spinach with cheese
And of course bread. Indians mostly eat naan which can be plain or with different spices inside (one with onions is great).
Keep in mind that Indians eat food with hands, so you can easily be in situation that food is served without spoon or fork. Whet in Rome, do what Romans do.
If you like it, keep reading this blog, as soon as I discover new details, I will write about them.

Pozdrav Duletu,

My understanding is that Dals are lentils.. they come in all kind of colors, and you can cook them in many many ways, I have discovered this while exploring different kinds of dishes from the subcontinent..
You can make it at home as well ;) ..
Try this one.. I call it the colored Dal dish :)
1/4 cup red lentils
1/4 cup yellow moong dal (Whole green gram )
1/8 cup masoor dal (red gram )
1/8 cup channa dal (chickpeas )
1/4 teaspoon Garam masala powder
3/4 cup onion (finely chopped)
1/3 cup tomatoes (chopped)
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
4 tablespoon ghee
salt to taste
Garnish
3-4 hot green chilies
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon mustard seed
2/3 teaspoon garlic paste
2/3 teaspoon ginger paste
1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoon coriander (chopped)
Preparation
1 Mix and wash thoroughly all Dals (lentils). Soak for 15 minutes. Cook slowly in medium heat until half done.
2 Heat ½ of ghee and fry onions. Add all of the spices until onions are fried until light golden brown.
3 Add the onion and mixture to Dals (lentils) and cook until done.
4 Heat remaining ghee in a small saucepan on a high. Add all of all the garnish except Cilantro and lemon juice and fry for few more seconds.
5 Add lemon juice and chopped coriander to Dal. Pour fried garnish to Dal. Serve hot with roti or rice.
Et voila ... sir is served
Bonne apetit ;)
